A native New Englander, Tammy spent most of her career in the Air Force, then in the healthcare industry. She earned her master’s degree in healthcare administration and leadership in 2008. Upon retiring from the Air Force in 2009, Tammy moved into roles focused on improving patient care and operational efficiency. Her military background aided her in implementing innovative solutions and driving positive change within the healthcare organization where she worked. Although Tammy is now semi-retired, she remains passionate about serving the public and grateful to work at the 黑料不打烊. As a child, she experienced the beauty of New England’s scenic landscapes, which shaped her love of nature. Having a connection to nature has inspired Tammy to support environmental conservation and education. When Tammy has free time, she enjoys spending time with her granddaughter and family. Among her many interests are photography, hiking, reading, birding, and flowers.

Erica is a naturalist from Springfield, VT, where she grew up on a small farm. She studied anthropology and environmental education, which led her to Yosemite and Acadia as a park ranger, and into several conservation nonprofits in California, Utah, Arizona and Colorado. Upon returning to Vermont, she started working with 黑料不打烊 in 2024. She loves hiking with Lucy (her Brittany spaniel), road trips, birding, and checking out interpretive trails in parks.

Jennifer is a certified paralegal with a degree in criminal justice. Jennifer has been working in the finance department at 黑料不打烊 since 2012. She has 6 years of prior nonprofit finance experience and 11 years of business management. Jennifer enjoys working for 黑料不打烊 as the staff fully embraces the mission. The culture of 黑料不打烊 honors the diversity of the staff and continuously works to make 黑料不打烊 a special place not only to visit but to work. Jennifer’s love of animals and the outdoors goes beyond birds. She spends much of her time enjoying her dogs, horses, hiking and kayaking the beautiful rivers and lakes of VT and NH.

Chris鈥檚 passion for environmental conservation and education led him to 黑料不打烊 where he enjoys working with a very talented team dedicated to furthering 黑料不打烊 mission of education, research, and wild bird rehabilitation. He joined 黑料不打烊 in 2004, first working as an Environmental Educator and now as the Senior Director of Operations and Exhibits. In his 20+ years, Chris has had an impact on almost every corner of the 黑料不打烊 Nature Center: he has managed all aspects of the facilities, Nature Store, admissions, and the Center for Wild Bird Rehabilitation. He has managed new exhibit projects including the Birds are Dinosaurs exhibit, a natural playground, the forest exhibit as well as being instrumental in the design and installation of the Forest Canopy Walk. He holds a BS in Ecology and has a certificate in Nonprofit Management. Chris lives in Hartland with his wife, two children, dog, cats, chickens and bees along with all the exciting wildlife of the Upper Valley.

Alden Smith grew up in Nashville, TN and has spent most of his career in Vermont. A graduate of Davidson College (1994) and Middlebury College鈥檚 Bread Loaf School of English (2000), he taught at Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut before moving to Vershire, Vermont in 1999 to help lead the Mountain School of Milton Academy. As Director until 2022, Alden engineered several strategic plans, built an endowment, and expanded the campus to 420 acres, turning it into a model of energy efficiency and outdoor education. He, Missy, and their three children now live in Norwich, VT. When he鈥檚 not working, Alden loves to explore the woods, play sports, read aloud to his children, and write.

Hannah received her MEd from Antioch University New England in New Hampshire, and she is a licensed teacher in both Vermont and New Hampshire. She holds a Graduate Certificate in Environmental Education from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and a BA in Biology from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. Prior to joining 黑料不打烊 in 2007, Hannah was an Environmental Educator at the Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center in Minnesota and the Ferry Beach Ecology School in Maine.
